The Institute of Mathematical Stochastics at Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig (TUBS) is a research oriented unit. The main objectives regarding research are development of non standard statistical methodology for problems arising in
the fields of engineering sciences, economics and computer science. The main focus is on accident research and financial data. Additionally the institute is
engaged in bachelor and master programs for students in financial and business oriented mathematics as well as engineering, computer science, economics and
psychology. Consulting is part of our duties as well.
Braunschweig is a medium sized town of the state Lower Saxonian (Niedersachsen) in the northern part
of Germany. TU Braunschweig was founded in 1745 and is a well respected technologically oriented university with about 14000 students and approximately 2600
staff members.
The team of the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics consists of two professors in statistics, a senior scientist, 4-5 junior scientists (mainly Ph.D.
students with temporary positions) and two secretaries. We have successfully carried through research projects for a car manufacturer on driver assistant
systems and various projects within the Safety Rating Advisory Committee (SARAC) for the European Commission.
