CDV (Centrum dopravniho vyzkumu), is the transport research arm of the Czech Ministry of Transport.
Established in 1992, CDV has been providing the research and development needed to improve the
safety, efficiency, and operation of the Czech transport system and to facilitate the cooperative
achievement of land use, environmental and transport goals for over the last fifty years (initially under
the name of Transportation Research Institute).
In addition to an expert staff, the CDV encompasses a row of areas of transportation expertise and
utilizes research laboratories and support facilities. The CDV provides technical information and
services to the Ministry of Transport; conducts research and development for various transportation
projects, and furnishes expertise and consultation services to public bodies as well as private
companies. Through its information activities, the CDV also helps facilitate the dissemination and
implementation of research results within the transportation community.
Jan Tecl is the CDV representative. He has been a member of the CDV staff for many years. He has wide
experiences from data statistics elaborations. He is responsible for activities concerning traffic statistics,
especially in the traffic accident area. He works on accident data processing, analysis and prognosing. He
took part in international project COST 329 - Models for Traffic and Safety Developments and
Interventions. He is a member of the IRTAD Operational Committee. He is currently acting in the SAFETY-NET
project and he is the CARE national expert for the Czech Republic.
